Leaded-glass lampshades with floral patterns are probably Louis Comfort Tiffany's (American, 1848–1933) best-known products. In his Table Lamp with Lotus Shade (1904– 15) lotus blossoms in opalescent and textured glass cascade down the bell-shaped shade from the bud stage through semi-open flowers to full blooms. Their stems emanate from a cast bronze base in the shape of a thicket of leaves, buds, and stems. This umbrella design has been adapted from his inspired interpretation of plant life in glass, as seen in this lamp.
