To celebrate the Cincinnati Bengals’ historic winning season of 2005, the Cincinnati Art Museum commissioned nationally renowned artist and Cincinnati native C.F. Payne to create the illustration Year of the Tiger. His illustration is inspired by the 15th century Chinese scroll painting, Tiger with Cubs, that is a part of the Museum’s collection.

In Year of the Tiger, Payne depicts a Cincinnati Bengals tiger fiercely roaring at symbols of the opponents it has trampled throughout the season. Look for the Baltimore raven, Cleveland dog bone and Pittsburgh jersey in the picture as well as the skyline, Paul Brown Stadium and seven hills of Cincinnati. "Who-Dey" in Chinese characters is also featured.
